Jimmy Jam On Album 3

Jimmy Jam, one of the producers who worked on the third Spice Girls album, has spoken about the upcoming still untitled album. Jam says that the Spice Girls have grown up and this album will prove it. But the change won't be so drastic that you won't recognize them. Jam's comments also give us the first two names of tracks off the album: "Oxygen" and "If You Want to Have Some Fun". Jimmy Jam said about the new material:

"You know it's the Spice Girls. My wife probably had the best thing for it. She said when you listen to it, it doesn't sound like cheerleader music. It's fun because the Spice Girls are fun, and it's pop music and danceable, but there's an air of sophistication to it, of maturity, as mature as you can be at 22, 23 and I think it's a good blend. They're just better at what they do. They're better singers. And they're much more together now that there's four of them. 'Oxygen' finds the girls using oxygen as a metaphor for love and life. Each of the girls tells their opinion of what love is, relating it to basically breathing. 'If You Want to Have Some Fun' is more of a straight-up party record."

Northern Star Single Goodies

I haven't seen the Northern Star single scans up on the net anywhere yet(although they are just recycling of the album insert so maybe thats why), so I scanned them! Here they are:

The track listing previously posted here is accurate, and yes that part 2 does come with four postcards!(More album insert photo recycling, but cool none-the-less!) I also haven't seen any audio of the new b-side "Something's Gonna Happen"(which is what was referred to before as "Soul Believer") anywhere on the net, so here is a realaudio clip I made of it. Enjoy!

No Christmas Single Official

Although it has been pretty much known that there will be no Spice Girls Christmas single this year, the girls themselves have not said so in an absolute manner. IE they have said "i don't think we'll have time to release a single..." or "we're all really busy doing our solo stuff so we probably won't have time to release a Christmas single this year.." The Official Spice Girls Homepage has been updated stating that there will be no Christmas single and gives information about the charity single "It's Only Rock n Roll" that the girls will be featured in which will be released this December 13th in the UK. Here is the info as it says on the site:

Ok, so the Spice Girls won't be releasing a Christmas song this year... but just try and keep them away from the festive action! A few months ago, the Girls were asked by the BBC to take part in a follow-up to Perfect Day. This time the song is called "It's Only Rock n Roll" - a hit for The Rolling Stones in 1974. It features a huge range of pop and rock stars, ranging from Iggy Pop, The Rolling Stones and Lionel Ritchie to Natalie Imbruglia, Ronan Keating and Jay Kay. The release date will be 13 December 1999 and all proceeds will be donated to the Childrens Wish Appeal.

The site also has a competition to win a copy of the Spice Girls' new book Forever Spice.

MelC Comments On The Press

Melanie C said to BBC Radio 1 about the press in a recent interview:

"I spend most of my life working and they don t like to write about your work, which is quite sad you know, because I've got a great album here. But they choose not to write about that because I haven't got a boyfriend, you know. They'd rather write about who I'm sleeping with at the moment. That's just the way it is and I'm quite grateful, really. I'd rather just keep me head down".

Good quote.

MelC Dragon Tatoo

Here is a picture of Melanie C's new dragon tatoo. This is her seventh tatoo, and took two hours to complete. Melanie has talked about the new tatoo:

"It's a Chinese dragon and compliments the phoenix on my back star rolling up her trouser leg. It didn't really hurt that much, I'm getting used to the pain. The only one that really hurt was the one on my back of a phoenix. That left me with tears in my eyes, I can tell you. I might still get another one. It just depends what kind of mood I'm in. Never say never. I love them and I think they look great. The reason I had this Chinese dragon done was because I read that the phoenix needed to balance out. It's like a Yin and Yang thing. In Chinese tradition the phoenix represents the female and the dragon represents the male, because before I was a little out of balance. I'm hoping it will find me a boyfriend, but he will have to be a mad biker or tattoo freak."

"It gives (musicians) more scope. The technology we make music with is now of such high quality, often we lose that on car stereos. Digital radio will provide better quality, more choice of stations and make things like tuning easier."

Victoria Wants To Be Funny

Victoria said that she is pleased and excited after talking to film and television chiefs in Los Angeles on her visit to the city last week. She has restated that she wants to do comedic roles, and not serious ones like people would perhaps expect. Victoria said:

"I don't want to play the glamorous stereotype. I want something which is a lot more challenging. I'd love to play comedy roles. For instance Notting Hill is one of my favourite films from the past year and everyone would expect me to say I'd love to play the Julia Roberts part. But really I would have preferred the wacky, dippy sister role which was done brilliantly by Emma Chambers from the Vicar of Dibley."

Press Conference Follow-Up

The Spice Girls' press conference took place yesterday. The press conference was for the launch of their new book Forever Spice, which came out yesterday in the UK. In the press conference the girls talked about their solo projects, Emma about her new single, Melanie C about her album, Melanie G about material she is working on, and Victoria talked about her family. The girls talked excitedly about their third album. They said that we should expect to see a single from it around March, and the full album to follow shortly after! Emma was asked by the media of what she thought of the alleged Chris Evans and Geri Halliwell relationship rumors and if it is all just a publicity stunt. Emma said "What do you think?" When asked what they thought of rumors that the two were engaged Melanie G said "I don't think you can believe everything you read until you've heard it from the person's own mouth." Melanie C added "Well if it's true, we offer our congratulations to the pair of them. Oooo! Imagine the children!" The media continued to badger the girls about the Evans/Halliwell rumors and the girls finally got tired of it. Melanie C replied: "It's not for us to comment. It's her life. We're here to talk about the book, not about the gingers." Melanie G added: "I want to talk about our bloody book!"

Here is a picture of the Spice Girls arriving at the press conference.

Dotmusic has posted an extremely bad quality four minute video clip of the press conference here.

Chris Evans Called Emma

Chris Evans, the popular UK television host of shows such as TFI Friday, is rumored to be going out with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. As the UK tabloids have been eating this story for the past couple days, Emma has now come out and said that Chris Evans recently called her up and asked her to go out a few times. The Spice Girls were on BBC Radio 1 when Emma made the statement. When the Spice Girls were asked what they though tof the rumors of Chris and Geri, Emma said:

"He's been trying to bed me, too! Dear me, I don't know what is going on there. The timing of it is quite spooky. I have had a couple of phone calls from Chris as well actually."

Victoria chuckled as Melanie G chipped in and said:

"Chris Evans wants to DO Emma!"

Emma Wants Kids

In a recent interview Emma revealed her new desire to have children. She said:

"I really want children. I would love to dedicate myself to bringing up my kids. I would definitely want to spend a lot of time with them. Just a few months ago, I was telling everyone I didn't want children. But now I've seen what it is really like, I feel differently. But I've got to find a man first, so it won't be happening yet. I think when I'm 29 would be the ideal time. So far, I have been one of the luckiest girls alive. I have everything I wished for, so perhaps the payback will be that I can't have true love."

MelC's Fear Overcome

After her final concert of her world tour in London, Melanie C was interviewed by Access All Areas(UK). In this interview she revealed that she was paranoid that nobody would like her music before the tour started. Melanie said:

"I was paranoid no one would really like it. But I've been amazed at how much people like it all over the world. Playing somewhere like Taiwan is so much less nerveracking, because all the eyes are not on me."

Emma TrackHer

Emma Bunton showed up at London's Astoria club yesterday for the second time to perform her cover song "What I Am" with Tin Tin Out. The crowd of 2000 went crazy when she came out. Emma was dressed in a stunning turquoise-and-black corset, designed especially for the occasion. Emma was such a hit the first time she performed the song at the Astoria club that she decided to perform the song again. At the end of her performance Emma shouted "I love you all!" and blew kisses to the crowd.
