MTV Spice Story
MTV's website is running this story about the new Spice Girls album, which is linked off the main page of the site! My guess is that MTV(US) is testing the waters with this one to see if there is any interest. If you have a chance, give some positive feedback in the "You Tell Us" section at the bottom of the story.

Also, thanks to Adam NYC for pointing out that it would be an even better idea to call MTV TRL to get them to play "Holler", since phone calls count more than email. Apparently Virgin Records is denying that they released Forever online and also that is available on Napster according to this article at Q Online. Maybe they got the quote wrong from the spokeswoman, and she meant that they did not accidentally upload the files... Because denying that the album is out would be just ridiculous.

MelC Bashes Westlife
After getting their new single to #1(Story), Mel C was asked(as were the other girls in seperate interviews), what she thought of the Westlife "competition", and their remarks that the Spice Girls are "finished". Mel said:

"They said we were finished. Well, how do they like them apples? We're as big as ever. All they do is get their marketing men to work out what it takes to get to number one. It doesn't mean anything any more. For me, it's all about the music."

Victoria Opens Champagne
Victoria celebrated "Holler" going to #1 yesterday(Story) by visiting husband David Beckham at a London Book store where he was signing copies of his new book. Once arriving, Victoria popped open a bottle of Champagne. She said:

"We're absolutely thrilled. We've all been working really hard, and the Spice Girls are stronger than ever. This is just a taste of the new album."

TRL: It's Now Or Never
The time has come. Many petitions and campaigns for voting on MTV(US) TRL have been in existance over the past month. I did not join into any of these because I simply thought that MTV had their own schedule of when they would premiere the video on the show. While I am not a fan of the show myself, I know the exposure it has on the US market. Surely the video is now available to MTV since many other US-based video shows have played it. Most people expected TRL to premiere it sometime in October. October is over, and still no sign of the video. The waiting ends here and now. I want every single person who is reading this right now to FOLLOW THIS LINK and check the "Other" box and put in Spice Girls for the Artist Name and Holler for the Video title. Fill out the damn name/age/state/whatever they want below and hit submit.

MTV apparently doesn't think Spice Girls are good enough to play or they are trying to cut them off. What other excuse could they possibly have at this point, I can't imagine any other. Go vote, every day this week. Vote multiple times if you can, tell your friends to vote, go vote, do it, do it, do it. I'll be putting a link to vote as below at the bottom of the last posted news story all week. I'm still not entirely optimistic, but lets see if we can have any influence. I'm not going to let this go by without trying.

Holler Enters UK Charts
"Holler/Let Love Lead The Way" has entered the UK Singles Chart at #1!!! This is the Spice Girls' 9th #1 single and first in two years! Around 150,000 copies of the single were sold this first week. Here are reactions of both Victoria and Emma from different radio stations in MP3 format: - The Emma Bunton clip is an MP3 conversion of the realaudio which was created by Spice Universe.

MelC Eating Disorder
In the December issue of Q Magazine(UK), Melanie C admits that she has had an eating disorder that has led her into depression(Story). Melanie would be a binge-eater, and would run six miles and go to the gym for two to three hours most days. If she was too busy with recording to find time for the gym, she wouldn't eat that day. It finally became so severe that she had to go to her doctor for help and the other Spice Girls became increasingly worried by her thin appearance. The disorder was the real reason she was prescribed the anti-depressant Prozac. Mel now says that she realizes she is overweight. She says:

"I'm not happy with my weight. I am overweight for my frame and height but I've got a healthier mind and I'd rather have that. I always felt not good, or not pretty enough, or I didn't have a good enough body, to be a Spice Girl. Not good enough to be famous. I've never liked myself, and I've always had self-doubt, so I thought if I'm as fit as I can be and thin then maybe I'll be good enough. Eventually I was just living on fruit and vegetables, steamed or raw. There was no fat in my diet, no protein, no carbohydrates. I even stopped eating potatoes and didn't drink alcohol for three years. Then it all started catching up on me, I was so severely underweight. And I would avoid going out to dinner because I had this horrible secret to hide."

Secret Divorce
Mel B has secretly completed the legal part of her divorce to husband Jimmy Gulzar four months ago on June 12th. The divorce was settled on the grounds of her adultry. Efforts were made to keep the legal actions of the divorce secret. It was not listed when it happened, and the court papers will remain a secret, since after 14 days pass since the divorce they are no longer public documents. Mel said she also had feelings that the marriage might be going bad before her daughter was even born. She said:

"I had this feeling but I just ignored it. I was trying to be positive and mature about the situation, with a baby on the way. Oh, I nearly gave away the time there, didn't I?"

Scary Spice Melanie B recently spoke about how happy she is with her current boyfriend Max Beesley. She said:

Emma Works With Bryan Adams
Emma says that she will be working with Bryan Adams on her solo debut album, which is due out next year. She says however, that it is unlikely that he will be singing on any of the tracks. Emma said of her album:

"I was nearly there before we started working on Forever. I've done tracks with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and I've been writing, but not duetting, with Bryan Adams. It's very guitary, with an American R&B style, too."

It's FOREVER!!!! - Breaking News!
Holy Sh*t!! THIS IS HUGE!! Looks like Virgin Records uploaded the new album in pretty good RealAudio format to a streaming account of theirs on the realaudio network! This might have something to do with a "song a day" until the album's release that they started promoting today. Somebody sent in a list of links to all of the tracks except for "If You Wanna Have Some Fun". I am unable to locate the proper site that provides these RealAudios if one even exists, so I quickly made up a simple web page with all the links to the songs. You can stream the realaudio Virgin uploaded from this page!

I have also captured the audio from the streaming realmedia and created MP3 files of the songs!! I only did the ones that have not previously been heard yet. Here they are!:

These MP3s will also only be on this site for about 24hrs, since people and music search engines quickly find and link directly to the files and leech bandwidth, so get em quick, and spread them! If anyone can get "If You Wanna Have Some Fun" off that server, please email me! Anyway, thats enough tech babble.. Enjoy! And remember where you got them first!

OH MY GOD!!!!! I almost shit my pants when I got these links and they actually worked! It's like all of the album except two tracks! At first I didn't want to hear it because it wasn't full MP3 quality, and I was going to capture them just with my audio down so I couldn't hear it as it captured... but I had my hand on the volume control as "Tell Me Why" started and I just heard that intro and I was like paralyzed, then it started, and I couldn't turn it off! And the quality is actually pretty damn good anyway! OH MY GOD HOT SONGS FROM SPICE GIRLS!!! "Tell Me Why" and "Time Goes By" will most definitely be favorites of everyone's, and most likely singles. I'm betting that "Groove With Me" and "If You Wanna Have Some Fun" will be fast tracks.. Oh and I love Mel B's rap parts back in the songs! Thats something I missed in SpiceWorld. Everytime I listen to these tracks I like them more! God I LOVE "Tell Me Why", and "Time Goes By" is such a good ballad, and "Right Back At Ya" album version, "Wasting My Time", and ahhhh, all of them! I could go on FOREVER.. I LOVE IT!!

Victoria Hands Westlife Member His Destiny
Victoria was out at London's trendy Chinawhite the other evening where Westlife member Kian Egan happened to be at the same time. Remember that Westlife are the boy band who think they will beat Spice Girls to the #1 spot when their albums are both released on November 6th(Story). In fact, Westlife's manager recently said:

"The Westlife album has got better vocals than the Spice Girls album, it's more soulful and basically it's going to sell a lot more records. It's going to be absolutely massive."

Victoria went up to Kian and told him:

"You've been very lucky with your number ones. Your single sales have been very low and we're going to trash you when the album's released. Don't mess with us girls or you'll get hurt."

Scary Spice Melanie B was in court on Wednesday battling against former husband Jimmy Gulzar's appeal to have custody of their child Phoenix Chi every weekend(Story). The case is expected to end this coming week. Currently, Mel is paying Jimmy £3,000-a-month maintenance, plus the £2,000-a-month rent on his flat in Hampstead, North West London.

Spice Girls On East Coast
It appears that Spice Girls will be starting some promotion on the US East Coast this week. They are supposedly scheduled to appear on New York radio station Z100 this Thursday at 5.30pm. A DJ from Toronto station Kiss92 is also going to NY to interview the girls this Wednesday, and the interview will be played back later in the week on the morning show. Phoenix Court Battle
Former husband of Mel B, Jimmy Gulzar will apply to the London High Court tomorrow demanding the right to look after his daughter Phoenix Chi every weekend, as opposed to only every other weekend as Mel is allowing now. He also is asking to be her care giver when Melanie is away performing. A 'pal' of Jimmy's said:

"He asks Mel constantly for more access and she refuses. He reluctantly agreed to the arrangements until his lawyers were able to put in an official contact application. But Mel wants the present arrangement to continue, so there will be a court battle."

Posh Sice Victoria Beckham is on the Westside! She was on Rick Dees radio show yesterday morning. You can listen to the 20-minute interview and see pictures on Rick's site. MelC Treated For Depression
Last night it was revealed that Melanie C is being treated for depression. She went to see a doctor and has been on prescription drugs for about a month. Melanie told The Mirror(UK):
"It's an illness and nothing to be ashamed of. I hope that I can dispel the stigma attached to this condition."
Causes of the depression are said to be recent scrutiny over her weight, her love life, and the pressures of fame. Sources close to Melanie said:

"She has been feeling very down since January. She doesn't know what caused it. She says it was just like a dark cloud descending on her. It's not just her weight but those pictures didn't help the situation. She's finding it hard to cope with the pressures of living her life in the public eye where every move she makes is scrutinised and picked over with a fine-tooth comb. She is a workaholic who has a lot on her plate at the moment. She loves her music and just wishes she could be left alone to get on with it. She is not at all at ease with the fame game. A lot of people may be cynical, a Spice Girl who appears to have it all suffering from depression. But Melanie is one of the most sensitive members of the group. She has had a difficult year and takes things to heart. Continued criticism has hit her hard, particularly personal comments about her body image."
A spokesperson for Spice Girls was asked about the situation and responded:

"She has had a few problems but has taken the best advice and is receiving treatment."

Victoria Autobiography In 2001
Victoria is working on an autobiography which will be released approximately in September of 2001. She has decided to go with the publisher Pengiun, and will receive over £1 million for writing the book. The book will obviously be her life story and will also contain some exclusive family photographs of her, David Beckham, and son Brooklyn. Victoria said:
"I have been writing this book since the beginning of the year based on the diary which I've been keeping for a couple of years. I thought it was about time to set the record straight."

Victoria was on Dr Fox's Breakfast show on Capital FM(London) on Tuesday morning. She talked about England's loss to Germany in the World Cup and how England coach Kevin Keegan quit directly afterwards. She said:

Former Mel B husband Jimmy Gulzar has lost his patience after being bashed repeatedly on Mel B's new solo album Hot. He has decided to write his own song to fight back against Mel. No, this isn't a joke, it's real! Jimmy is now in talks with Island Records trying to get a deal. He said:

"I've been in the recording studio over the past month, laying down my vocals for this song. It's just something I felt I wanted to do. It's mainly about parents who walk out on their children or leave them to be looked after by the other parent. I think it is an important issue these days that needs to be addressed. Yesterday during the taping of Top Of The Pops(UK), Mel B told the audience that she was sick of claims by her former husband Jimmy Gulzar that she had fake boobs. Mel B wanted to prove that they were real and asked the other Spice Girls to cop a feel and give their verdict. She said "Mel C says I've got great tits." Victoira quickly added "Yeah, but who wants to touch them?" Melanie C finally stepped up to the plate and grabbed Mel B's boobs and then stuffed her face into them, reportedly(by some newspapers) licking them at the same time. We might never see it though because a TOTP spokesman said:
"It was just light-hearted fun in between takes. It was a bit saucy, though. There's no way it will be screened."

MelC On Farting
When recently talking to The Sun(UK), Melanie C commented on her farting. She said:
"I have a problem with trumping, full stop. I'm always farting. It doesn't matter what I eat, I'm just always farting. The other Spicers used to shout at me. I don't try to hide them, I do them quite openly. I had this band touring with me called Tomcat and they're all young lads. I did this really smelly one in the dressing room and my hairdresser Jenny went down and grabbed one of the lads and said 'Come and smell this!' You've gotta be yourself, though."

Spice Girls Earnings
Spice Girls Ltd., the company that Spice Girls are technically employed under, has reported far lower earnings this year(for obvious reasons). The company made £41 million in 1998, this year they made £14 million.

MelC's New Boyfriend?
RUMOR WARNING

Sporty Spice Melanie C has a new boyfriend! She's pulling the famous go-out-with-someone-on-tour-with-you routine :P Her new boyfriend is supposedly lead singer of Tomcat, the band that opens for Melanie C on her tour. His name is Dan Williams(22) and the two have allegedly been inseperable since the third day of the tour, which started four weeks ago. A "close friend of Dan" said:

"They got together at a party on the third date of their tour in Newcastle. They just sat in the corner giggling and snogging. Then they vanished together and have been a couple ever since. On Sunday, at their gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, Mel introduced Dan to her friends. Emma Bunton told him, 'So, you're the one she has been telling us all about.' Dan still can't believe he is going out with a Spice Girl."

At the store at getmusic.com, they have the upcoming Spice Girls album, Forver available for pre-order. Whats news is that they have a track listing there for the album, which looks like this:

UPDATE(3.08PM):
Yes I know that "WOMAN" is not on the track listing. Nobody ever said this listing was 100% accurate, or perhaps "WOMAN" isn't on the album. it might be being saved for a B-Side or something. It's starting to look that way since Amazon.com also has the same tracklist posted for the album.

Damn it I so wanted at least 12 tracks!

Lyrics To Hot
I don't usually post lyrics links here because they are usually for one song and it's not that big of a deal, but Mike of Girls On Film - Spice Videos did a good job of writing up the lyrics to Melanie B's entire debut solo album Hot, which was released on the internet yesterday(Story). Beckhams Deny Lies
A statement regarding the alleged fabrication of the Brooklyn snatching last December in order to get Daivd off of a speeding charge(Story) has been denied by the Beckhams. A statement released by the couple's agent last night said:
"Victoria and David Beckham strongly refute suggestions that an incident involving Brooklyn outside Harrods was in any way made up or fabricated. They are disappointed that these and various other allegations have been given any credence. The book does not actually claim that the incident did not happen but simply reports that some people do not believe it. It is a poor attempt to make the book look controversial to generate sales."
Meanwhile police have contacted Andrew Morton, the book's author, to further discuss the claims that the story was fabricated to get David off a speeding charge and are looking into the matter.

MelC Fat Claims
The British press is once again all over Melanie C about her supposed weight gain recently. They apparently all noticed this at the same time when at her concert in London on Sunday(Story), and at the MTV Europe Music Awards Nominations on Monday(Story). Mel has denied allegations of weight gain saying that she is the same weight as she always was. Here are some of the nice(sarcasm) things the British press have been saying over the last coule days:

  • One newspaper called her "Who-ate-all-the-pies Spice"

  • "Mel C voted for Eminem as best male and Madonna as best female performer at this year's awards. She could also take tips from the fortysomething Queen of Pop on how to look fabby, not flabby."

  • "Now, the pictures tell a different story, as the 26-year-old Liverpudlian sports a double chin, big belly and a huge bum. Mel revealed the size of her problem when she bent over to fill in a giant form at the MTV Europe music award nominations in London yesterday. Despite a hectic routine and stomping stage shows, she still looks far from her perfect fighting weight. She has come up with a variety of bizarre excuses over the past few months for her startling change in shape. Whatever she claims, Mel now faces a race against time to get back into shape. She'll be performing the new Spice Girls single "Holler" on Saturday night's National Lottery Stars show presented by Dale Winton."
Let's make sure not to put any pressure on the poor girl, and I'm sure she feels great about all these stories (yeah thats more sarcasm)

Brooklyn Snatch Attempt Made-Up?
In the upcoming book Posh & Becks by Andrew Morton(Story), Mark Niblett claims that David & Victoria completely fabricated the story of an attempted snatch of their child Brooklyn(Story) last December in order to get David Beckham off of a speeding charge. In December of 1999 David was caught speeding and banned from driving for eight months. He launched an appeal against the sentence, claiming he was being pursued by a paparazzi photographer and had feared for his safety. The couple claimed that when Christmas shopping at Harrods in London, a crazed fan had lunged at Brooklyn demanding a photograph. In the book, Morton writes:

"Strangely, the incident was not captured on film either by the CCTV cameras outside Harrods or by the dozen or so photographers within inches of their Mercedes. A housewife quoted as a witness has proved untraceable. David Beckham had a court case at the time. He used the incident, spin-doctoring to get him off. There was no manic fan."

Morton also quotes the Harrods media relations officer Michael Mann as suggesting that the incident was a stunt. After a five-hour appeal hearing, Judge Barry Woodward took pity on Beckham and gave him back his licence.

MelC Makes Dreams Come True
A young fan from Southhampton named Victoria Masters got to meet Melanie C after winning a make a dream come true contest... She is a normal fan, I'm not going to go into detail about the story because many people meet Mel C all the time and have stories about it and it's not really Spice Girls news.. I just thought the picture was cute.

About Her Meningitis
Posh Spice Victoria Beckham has spoken about her experience with her meningitis bug(Story) after the Elle Awards(Story). Victoria said:
"I'll never forget the moment they told me. It was shocking and it has really affected me. You always think the worst and you're afraid that it's all over. I've just been lying flat on my back. The doctors can't prescribe anything so it's just a matter of waiting to get better. I still don't feel myself and it's testing my patience. I'm not drinking and it's difficult coming to things like this because I'm coughing and I still feel weak. It's frustrating not being able to do anything. I just have to slow down and pace myself. I'm more or less OK. I'm now back at work. But I think you've got to get out or else you'd go crazy! Although I felt terrible and was lying on the sofa all day, the only advantage was being able to spend a full two weeks at home with David and Brooklyn, proper family time with my two boys. We just relaxed and watched movies all day. David cooked for me and Brooklyn every night. Brooklyn loves to jump up and down in front of MTV, especially when the Spice video comes on."
Speaking about the after-party in general she said as she looked around at the other guests:
"Where's that Spiller girl? I think she's avoiding me. I don't know why because I'm the one who made her famous. She must be scared after all the things she said about me. I'm so bored, I've had enough of these celebrity parties."
