End Of SpiceNews
It is in most of our opinions that the Spice Girls have ended. Perhaps quite a bit of time ago (early 2001?). We never wanted to stop posting news regarding any of the girls until we had some solid word from them (or at least one of them) that the group has no plans for the future. This word arrived two weeks ago with Victoria's statement regarding Spice Girls - "We don't see a future, don't think we're going to make any more music." That says it all. There's no "official announcement" to really wait for, since the Spice Girls never split up, they just simply ended. Should the Spice Girls become active once again at some point in the next few years, though we do not anticipate this happening, we would start posting news here again.

It's been a great 4 years and 3 months of SpiceNews.com The entire SpiceNews team would like to deeply thank all of you, the visitors, that came and read the news, and shared your love for the Spice Girls with us. SpiceNews wouldn't be anything without you. We feel as though we have a connection with all of you and it's sad that this ride has come to an end, but it'll always be a great memory. And of course a big thanks to Spice Girls for all the great times, we'll never forget you.

Today marks the end of updates to SpiceNews, but the site will continue to live on as the biggest and most detailed archive of Spice Girls news in the world. If you are interested in continuing to follow the solo careers and lives of Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, and Geri Halliwell, a new project has been started for this purpose by the current SpiceNews team + new talent - SoloSpiceNews.com

Thanks for everything, good luck, and goodbye.

Bend It Like Beckham
'Bend It Like Beckham', the movie about a teenage girl who dreams of becoming a footballer like her hero David Beckham, is due out in theatres April 19th. Melanie C has contributed to the soundtrack, and there are unconfirmed rumors that Victoria Beckham has as well (although the current tracklisting at hmv.co.uk does not have any tracks from Victoria but lists Melanie's track as 'Independence Day'). David and Victoria also make a cameo appearance near the end of the movie.

Spicenews is in contact with the makers and promoters of the film and we hope to update you shortly on more news regarding this film. We also hope to get one of our excited Spicenews "reporters" into the premiere of the film and give you a report.

(Breaking News?!) Victoria: No Future For Spice Girls
Reuters posted an interview with Victoria today in which she talks about the (non-existant) future of the Spice Girls:
"We don't see a future, don't think we're going to make any more music. You never know, we might decide in a few years time to do a greatest hits record or to do some more shows but right now we have to establish ourselves as solo artists before that can happen."
Thanks Matt!

What I find shocking/important about this is how drastically she said this. Before, statements about the groups' future were all full of "maybe"s and "at some later point"s. Now it's "We're most likely not going to make any more music". And I think she speaks out what about everyone of us feared and refuses to accept - the Spice Girls just faded away and are not likely to come up again. Don't tell me I'm seeing things too negative and all we need is positivity, I had and still have a very hard time reading such a statement by Victoria. It steals the last hope from me and at the same time, it brings back nice memories from earlier times where there was nothing but Spice Girls in my mind. Can this be considered as the final nail in the coffin? We're doing something unusual now, we're asking you to send in your opinion about the future of the Spice Girls. Write an email and tell us what you think, some of the emails will be posted on a seperate page over the weekend.

Please also note that I'm NOT saying the Girls officially split up!

Emma With Simon - Confirmed
It's now official that Emma signed up with ex-Spice-Girls-manager Simon Fuller (Story). She released the following statement:
"They are very supportive of my plans and I am really excited about the future."
Simon Fuller added: "Having been in discussion with Emma for a period of time, the opportunity to work with her again seemed like the natural thing to do. Emma is young, talented and ambitious, and fits in perfectly with all the ideas I am developing both here in the UK and around the world. There are lots of exciting opportunities ahead for both of us."

Vic & Brooklyn Involved In Car Crash
Victoria and Brooklyn have been in a car accident on Tuesday, the driver being Victoria's dad Toni. They were on their way to Brooklyn's birthday-party, luckily nobody was harmed. Victoria said:
"It was one of the scariest moments of my life. For a split second I thought: 'That's it'. I instinctively clutched my stomach as if that was somehow going to protect my baby.

It's hard to explain as it all happened so fast but at the same time, it was as if everything was in slow motion. We were all looking forward to celebrating Brooklyn's birthday and we'd been sitting in the car laughing and joking with each other and then suddenly - bang! - something like this happens. I just thanked God that my dad was driving. He didn't panic and took control.

It's amazing how quickly these things can occur. It's a miracle that we all managed to walk away from it without being injured. I called David straight away to let him know what had happened and to tell him that we were all OK. He was very upset, as you can imagine.

It was absolutely awful but thankfully Brooklyn is too young really to know what happened. It could have been so much worse if it hadn't been for my dad. He's a star."

Posh Denies Publicity Stunt Rumors
Posh Spice has denied rumors that she announced her pregnancy for the purpose of increasing the publicity for her latest single 'A Mind of its Own'. Says Victoria:

"There are two reasons I didn't say anything about my pregnancy before now. The first is that I didn't have my 12-week scan until 10am last Friday [February 22nd]. The press release was put out at 4pm on the same day, once we knew everything was okay.
The second reason was that I didn't want anybody to think that I was releasing information to tie-in with the single which was out for a week beforehand. Only my very close family knew."
