Spice Girls To Roll On Forever Like The Stones
The rumours have now been quashed of an imminent split between the Spice Girls. They plan to stay together forever and are ready to follow the Rolling Stones' lead by teaming up regularly for big one-off concerts.

Emma Bunton's confession earlier this month that the band would not be touring this year and disappointing sales of Forever, all seemed to imply that the end was near.

But Victoria has came out to say it isn't so and insists the group will continue together despite their solo projects.

"It's definitely open-ended with the Spice Girls. When we did the Christmas concerts in 1999, they were organised at short notice. At the moment, we're just having a bit of a rest from Spice. But we are still great friends."

Even though they have been pursuing their solo careers, they have also continued to see each other. Victoria and Mel B are planning a dinner date this week, while Melanie C, will look after Phoenix Chi tonight.

A 'source' says:

"The point is that the four girls are good friends. They actually get on brilliantly, so they still enjoy being in a band together. And why should they split? They've got nothing to lose by staying together. They can go on for ever, like the Rolling Stones. For years, the Stones have been doing their own solo work, then getting back together for a big tour or an album. The same looks likely to happen with the Girls."

Too Many Sit-Ups?
-= Rumor Warning =-

Posh Spice Victoria Beckham has allegedly been doing hundreds of sit-ups a day to maintain a v.flat stomach. However, she has been reported to be getting treatment for lower back pain as a result of the sit-ups. She supposedly fears that she may have the brittle bone disease Osteoporosis, and is awaiting results of tests. A 'friend' of Victoria's said:

"She has a back problem, but it does not seem too serious. Victoria has a tendency to get worried over nothing. Maybe neurotic is a slightly strong word, but she does have the tendency to be something of a hypochondriac on occasions. Exercise experts generally advise people who are prone to back problems not to do sit-ups. Her problems may well have had something to do with her intensive exercise regime, but we will have to wait and see what the test results bring. I think Victoria has in the past tried too hard to keep up with David on the exercise front, which is not sensible. Men and women are obviously very different physically and she should realise that."

A spokesman for Victoria said:

"Victoria has had back problems in the past, but she's fine at the moment. She likes to have a massage regularly, but that's about it."

Victoria, keeping her good relationship with UK tabloid The Sunday Mirror, has sent a thank-you message to the newspaper for exposing Mark Oliver's plan(Story):

"I'm shocked that this man has tried to do this and I'm grateful to the Sunday Mirror for exposing him for what he really is. It's extraordinary what some people will do for money. The fact that he's still trying to make money out of me after being convicted is outrageous."

Posh Mom To Boot Sales

Victoria sent her mother to search the car boot sales around Heathrow for her missing items(Story) from her luggage after being told by police that many of her items might be sold at such markets. A detective said:

"Occasionally we launch unannounced raids on some of the larger boot sales near Heathrow to try and find stolen goods. We advised Victoria this was the best way of trying to find the rest of her stolen clothes."

Binman Tries To Sell Victoria's Secrets
Mark Oliver, the man convicted of handling Victoria's stolen luggage has tried to sell her secrets to two UK newspapers, the Sunday People and the Sunday Mirror. Both papers chose not to be involved, and at this stage it is unknown if he has tried anywhere else.

Sniggering, he told the Sunday People of the cheap thrill he got as he read the thoughts contained in her diaries and love letters:

"I had a very good look at Posh's knickers and I had her diaries for two days. I read it all and I've got copies. I know why Geri left the Spice Girls. It wasn't to do with Victoria, but it is astonishing. I just want to get some money out of it now - I'll tell everything. There is stuff about David Beckham. She's written something and he's written something by the side of it - very lovey dovey. I tried to hand it all back. But now I've been found guilty I've got a lot to tell. There were song lyrics - all new songs off her new album."

He wanted at least pounds 30,000. Failing with his attempt at the Sunday People, he tried his luck with the Sunday Mirror, there asking for pounds 50,000. Claiming that he had copied extracts of Victoria's private diary in his possession, he told them:

"They talk about the relationships the Spice Girls had with each other and they cover conversations about why Geri left. They also include conversations with David Beckham. It's 'Dear Diary' and that sort of rubbish.

Continuing, he said:

"I know some of the lyrics and we'll go through some of them when we sort it all out. There's also backing music. The contract (David Beckham's) has no figures in it. I don't think you'll be too interested in that - but the diary ...definitely. All I've got to do is to make sure from my point of view is that the money is going to be there. They are the most high profile couple at the moment. She's the same as Diana - isn't she? That's the way I see it. It's whatever sells papers at the end of the day."

He asked the Sunday Mirror to make out a contract in the name of his girlfriend, hoping to get round rules which stop convicted criminals profiting from their crimes. Then when asked what he would be looking for, he said:

"A lot of money. Obviously you can't pay me, it would have to go to someone else. I will be more than happy for pounds 50,000. The story would be well worth pounds 50,000."

Then despite all the stress that Victoria suffered in the last week's trial at Isleworth Crown Court, Oliver claimed that he was the one suffering:

"I'm on anti-depressants and can't sleep. I've been through hell, but it's not just me - it's Sadie (his sister) too. It's only because it was Posh Spice's luggage. I've been found guilty for doing the right thing. I want to have my say and put things straight. The papers said things like I wore an ill-fitting suit but it was tailored and cost pounds 500 from Georgio Armani."

MelC Not Depressed
The following update has been made to Melanie C's official site:

Judging from the many messages you've sent to us in the past few hours it seems you're all very concerned about Melanie.

With several tabloids printing rubbish that she is currently suffering from "severe depression" and that she told an aide she "just couldn't face it" when asked why she was cancelling the UK and Ireland tour dates, Melanie wanted to put up the following message to clear a few things up:

»I just wanted to let my fans know the truth because you're the important ones. The truth is I've been very ill over Christmas with that nasty flu that everyone has had. Sadly, my vocal cords haven't recovered in time for me to do the UK and Ireland section of the tour. I'm very upset and disappointed about this but I'm in no way depressed. Thank you for your kind concern, I'm just taking it easy for a couple of weeks and then I'll be out there fighting fit and performing the tour like you've never seen it before. "Just couldn't face it".....are they mad???«

Love Melanie xx

Posh's Clothes Show Up
Well it appears that some of Victoria's missing clothes have showed up... in the form of being worn by the sister of their convicted thief(Story), Mark Oliver. 16 year old Sadie Oliver has been pictured wearing what appears to be some of Victoria's clothes at a recent wedding. Mark Oliver himself is believed to be wearing David Beckham's stolen sunglasses. One of the wedding guests said:

"Sadie's designer outfit was the talk of the wedding. There were more eyes on her than the bride. It was obviously an expensive designer suit, very much Victoria Beckham style, and one Sadie couldn't afford herself. A buzz went round that she was wearing Victoria Beckham's outfit and everyone thought it was a bit of a giggle. There were loads of us there and it was an open secret"

When Sadie herself was asked about the stolen clothes she said:

"I'm not saying anything. You'd better speak to my brother."

Here is a picture of Sadie wearing the stolen clothing.

Here is a picture of Sadie & Mark Oliver.

Both pictures are from The Sun(UK).

Melanie C Forced To Cancel Concerts
Melanie C has had to cancel her forthcoming UK and Ireland tour dates due to start on 28 January because she is suffering from a throat infection.

Although the infection isn't said to be serious, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice for the next month, if she is to avoid more serious damage. Although, some reports seem to think this has more to do with her depression, rather than a throat bug.

Her tour was to start in Belfast this Sunday, then followed by dates in Dublin, York, Manchester, Edinburgh, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Brighton, Plymouth, Liverpool and then finishing in Bristol on February 11. Melanie hopes to be able to reschedule these dates in May.

She says:

"I was really looking forward to the tour and I'm sorry to have disappointed my fans but I have to follow doctor's orders and look forward to touring in May."

Her dates in Athens, Tel Aviv, Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia will still go ahead from February 17 to March 2.

All tickets will still remain valid, so if you have a ticket for one of her forthcoming UK or Ireland dates, hold on to them! Though if instead you would like a refund, contact the box office where you originally bought them.

First Spice Girls Recordings To Be Released!
Alan Glass, who wrote with the Spices in the very early days, thinks it's time for the songs he did with them to be heard.

"I've kept these songs private for the past five years, but now I think it's only right they should be made public. It's become fashionable to slag off the Spice Girls now, especially as their third album is plummeting in the charts. They show once and for all the Spice Girls are great singers."

It is still unclear how the 2 songs will be made available. Although he does say why he thinks 'Forever' the Spice's latest album didn't do too well.

"They started out as a good pop group, and they should have stuck to that. If they stick to what they do well, they would still be at the top of the tree."

More About Victoria Case
Victoria said of the verdict(Story) in yesterday's case(Story):

"I'm very pleased. I hope this sends a signal to anyone stealing or handling stolen goods from luggage that we take the problem seriously. The police have done a great job and I'm glad it's all over."

Mark Oliver(the thief) has a history of previous convictions, and was warned he may face jail after his unanimous conviction(only took the jury one hour) at Isleworth Crown Court, West London. His story was that Victoria's possessions were placed on the back of his garbage truck in bin liners without him knowing. He claimed he did not realise their value. Oliver's sentencing is adjourned until next month. He must also pay £1,025 in costs. The judge said: "All sentencing options remain open, including custody." He is out on bail until February 16th but must report to police three times a week while the judge studies pre-sentence reports. Oliver was previously convicted of criminal damage for trying to break into a car, for which he got 80 hours of community service. Police have told Victoria to not use expensive and fancy luggage on future trips, but instead use sturdy but anonymous style luggage.

In court, Victoria's ex-bodyguard claimed that she is tight with her cash. These allegations were slammed today by four people. Elton John said:

"Victoria always gets her purse out before me. She's a real sweetheart and I love her to bits."

41-year-old Maintenance supervisor Ian Knowles of Slough, Berks who wrote to Victoria asking her if she could donate anything that he could auction off to help pay hospital bills for his son Jordan, who has cerebral palsy said:

"She's not mean, that girl's been a diamond for me and my family. She sent a whole load of things. There are signed photos, Spice Girl things, CDs."

42-year-old Brian Little of Rochdale said that Victoria & David had greatly helped charity work in the battle against deadly meningitis:

"I know they're doing a great job."

And 36-year-old Hayley Saggers, a close friend of Victoria's sister Louise, said:

"When we go out it is always Victoria who pays. She never thinks twice about it."

Suitcase Contents Revealed
The contents of Victoria's stolen suitcases were revealed in yesterday's court case(Story). The collection of items packed for Victoria's two-week trip to the US is valued at approximately £19,000 and said to be virtually everything she owns. A spokeswoman for Victoria said:

"It's true, she did cram virtually everything she had into her suitcases. That's because a girl like Victoria has to be ready for every eventuality. Before going to Miami she spent four days in L.A. meeting people for her solo work. And as it is pretty cold there at that time of year, she had to have a lot of different clothes with her. She also had to be ready for television work when she was out there. What's more, Victoria didn't have a clue how long her Spice Girls work would last. She could have been in Miami for weeks and weeks."

SpiceGirlsForever.org
SpiceGirlsForever.org has been created. Here is the press release:

"SpiceGirlsForever.org has been established to encourage the Spice Girls to release another single from their highly-anticipated third album, Forever. Due to lack of promotion, and the girls' solo projects, Forever did not sell as well as everyone had hoped, therefore no more singles are planned for release off the album as of now. The "sign book" was created for every Spice fan to express how they feel about the Spice Girls' most recent band decision. If something doesn't change, the fans are in for a big disappointment. We support the Spice Girls, and right now is an important time to show your appreciation for what the Spice Girls have done for us thus far. This "book" will be sent to someone very close to the Spice Girls(in fact, he works with them), so be sure that the girls will get this!

As you may remember the girls said in interviews that they will stay as long as the fans want them. We DO want them.. FOREVER!"

So be sure to go and sign the book! It might be our only hope in getting more singles off the album.

Victoria's First Day In Court
During Victoria's first day in court, she told how a man accused of stealing her suitcases of designer clothes also took a treasured baby book with a lock of her son's hair, a book of lyrics and a photograph.

Victoria is the main prosecution witness in the case of Mark Oliver, 20, of Stanwell, at Isleworth Crown Court in west London. Mr Oliver denies stealing the star's Louis Vuitton suitcases which went missing from Heathrow Airport in April last year as Victoria returned on a British Airways flight from Miami.

She said:

"Virtually all my clothes - and I had been away for two weeks so I took literally everything with me - were gone."

She was later contacted by Oliver through a friend, who returned some of her missing items including her lyrics and Brooklyn's baby book. But in a raid on his house, police recovered £1,080 worth of her clothes from his sister Sadie's wardrobe. Victoria had 11 pieces of luggage - and four of her six Louis Vuitton suitcases went missing after their transfer to a connecting flight to Manchester.

"Near enough it was all my clothing, all Brooklyn's and a couple of pieces of David's. I was constantly ringing up British Airways myself to find out if they had heard where the bags were - about five times a day. Some of the items of clothing were presents from David and they have a sentimental value. There were Brooklyn's favourite toys and teddy bear and they have great value to him. I like to keep hold of a lot of my clothes that have been bought for me and given to me by friends, designers who have made special items for me."

Victoria phoned Oliver's number and told the court:

"A man answered, giving his name as Mark. First I wanted to say thank you because the things returned to me were very valuable and personal. Second, I was trying to see if he could get any more of my belongings back. I asked him how he had come into contact with them and he said he owned a dumper truck. He had found a dustbin bag in the back, looked into it and found my lyric book and new CD."

When Victoria asked him during the call if he had any more of her possessions, he replied: "No." But she said she began to press him about the photo frame. Victoria described the photo frame - which Manchester United star David had inscribed with "Happy Valentine's Day, love David" and on the other side "Me and Daddy" - as being the biggest loss.

"I said that I spent a lot of time away from David when I was working and that it was very personal to me. There were things that were personal and private and this was one of them. I was upset about this more than anything. I asked more him than once. I asked two or three times at least."

He pretended to return to the rubbish dump where he claimed to have thrown the rest of the rubbish bags.

"He gave the impression that he was at the rubbish dump. He made sounds and panted and heaved and told me he was climbing over a wall. It was so improbable. It was unbelievable. He said, 'Hang on, I'm just climbing a wall."

Then breaking into fits of giggles, Victoria went on:

"He said, 'Oh I can see something shiny'. He said he could see the photograph frame - but it had no photo inside it."

In court, the returned items were displayed as exhibits - they included the photo frame, Victoria's Ralph Lauren denim jacket, a Maria Grachvogel top, a Donna Karan vest top and three other jackets, some of which Victoria admitted she hadn't even worn as the price tag was still attached. Oliver's defence counsel asked Victoria whether the theft of the clothes could be of any real importance to a celebrity with her wealth.

"As any woman knows it doesn't matter what walk of life you're in, but your clothes stick with you. Although these clothes may not look expensive that's the point of a lot of designer stuff. A lot of clothes I have are expensive but made to look vintage."

Victoria said that he didnt ask for money for returning the goods but she was concerned that the items might be sold to the media or put on the Internet. In reply to the defence's claim that she was a 'cultural phenomenon', Victoria replied:

"I wouldn't say a cultural phenomenon but I accept that there is media interest in me, yes."

Here is a picture of Victoria outside the court after giving evidence.

Posh Solo Plans
Victoria talked to reporters in Cannes, France last night when attending the NRJ Radio Music Awards. She talked about Spice Girls and her solo album:

"We have a really great album out at the moment which we are all very, very proud of. The Spice Girls at the moment are taking time to do our own thing. We are working on individual projects but we are always going to be Spice Girls. We are always going to be part of a band and we are always going to be very good friends. But we are taking time to pursue solo careers. I have been working on my album for the last year. It is looking really exciting and is almost finished. I have my first single out in May. I am really, really nervous. I couldn't have done it without the support of David. I have been doing quite a lot of work in America with some really great writers. It is a real pop album and I am going to stay true to myself and what I do best which is pop music. I take Brooklyn to the studio with me and sit him in a corner and he likes to boogie along to the music. The same with football, we take him along to see David. So he is going to be a footballer with rhythm which is going to be a first. Footballers are usually crap dancers."

Husband David said of his wife's solo album:

"I think she is going to surprise a lot of people. I think the critics are very hard out there. Victoria to come out with something like this is something special, believe me. I am not being biased. It is very good."

As far as having another child Victoria says:

"Yeah, I hope so. Me and David want to have a really big family, but maybe not just yet. But definitely I want to have loads of children."

And about that acting career?

"A lot of people in the press have been saying I have been on castings for this, castings for that. None of that is true...Maybe that is something I will think about in the future."

Here is a picture of Victoria & David at last night's awards.

Emma Bashes Brit Organisers
Emma Bunton has bashed Brit Award organisers for not nominating fellow Spice Girl and close friend Melanie C, while nominating less deserving people such as Jamelia and PJ Harvey. Emma said:

"It makes me furious. Mel's been extremely successful this last year. PJ Harvey? I can't remember anything she's done for years."

Forever Dead?
In a shocking turn of events, it seems that Spice Girls themselves are declaring their third album, Forever, dead. Emma said that the album's short life has come to a natural end and the group will do no more promotion for it. Emma said:

"I was surprised by the reaction to the album but I don't consider it to be a failure. It sold two million copies world wide. There won't be another single and the record seems to have come to a natural end. I want to concentrate on solo projects and there is no time to release a single now. All our individual projects are scheduled and we wouldn't have time for any promotion. We won't be touring as a band this year either."

"We had to change our sound, if we'd carried on with what we were doing we would have been slaughtered. Pop goes in cycles and I think Westlife will find sooner than they think that they will have to move on too. People will always compare but we are moving on."

Yet More On Emma Solo Album
Baby Spice Emma Bunton has revealed a bit more about her upcoming solo album, particularly that it will be a more guitar-featured album then people might expect. She said:

"I've got a single coming out in March which I'm really pleased with. It's quite guitar-y. No, it's guitars but it's got sweet melodies. The album is kind of like Gabrielle and Texas and things like that. I've been working with lots of different producers. I've done a few tracks with Rodney Jerkins. I'm doing a track with Bryan Adams, though he's not singing on it. A couple of tracks about my mum and just things I've been through with relationships. I wrote all these tracks and it's really hard, especially when you write them all yourself, because you only get to use so many."

More Emma On Solo Album
Emma has spoken more about her solo album as well as the fact that Spice Girls were not nominated for any Brit Awards this year:

"I'm really excited about my solo album which should be out in March. I'm concentrating on that and it'll probably win lots of awards next year! What's it called? I can't tell you. It's top secret. All of the band are concentrating on their own projects but don't worry, it doesn't mean the end of the Spice Girls. We won't be doing much this year but we'll be back next year bigger than ever."

"Last year's awards(Story) was amazing for us. It was our best year ever and we couldn't repeat that this year. Now it's time for somebody else to come along. I really like Coldplay so I hope they win something. But I'm really shocked that Mel hasn't been nominated because she did so well last year with her album. I really love the songs she's released and I can't believe that she's not up for any awards."

Emma also killed wedding rumors once again:

No, we don't have any plans to get married. Definitely not. I'm concentrating on my career this year and we're just having fun, dating you know? It's too early to say where it's going."

MelB On Big Brother
Scary Spice Melanie Brown will live together along with Chris Evans, Mariella Frostrup, Frank Skinner, and others in a celebrity version of television show Big Brother*(UK). They house will be in London's East End, and they will live there together for a week.

Thanks Zila.

* Big Brother - A British television program in which ten people who have never met before live together in a house with 24 cameras watching their every move around the clock. There are even infra-red cameras in their bedrooms. Viewers can watch events in the house on television and live on the Internet. While they are in the house the participants will have no contact with the outside world. No telephones, television, radio, or newspapers. Conditions inside the house are basic, but participants earn money to supplement their rations if they all successfully complete weekly assignments, designed to test their team spirit. Every week one person will be ejected from the house. The participants themselves will nominate two of their group for eviction, with the television viewers and web surfers making the final decision on who will leave the house. Eventually one person will emerge as the winner and will receive a cash prize.

Cast Away Emma: On Spice Tour, Solo Album
Baby Spice Emma Bunton attended the premiere of the Tom Hanks movie Cast Away in London on Thursday night. At the premiere, she said that Spice tour plans might not come through too soon:

"We were planning to tour, but I don't think it's going to be possible because we're all so busy with our solo stuff. It's a shame really as it would have been wicked. We could even have done our own solo stuff and given the fans an extra treat. But we've had to put it on the back burner for now. The Spice Girls are not touring this year but I will go out on my own. It's a scary thought but I know I'll enjoy it."

She also said that her solo album will drop in June, with the first single hitting sometime in April. She will be shooting the video for it in two weeks. Emma has dumped cover-songs from her album and has now co-written every track. She said:

"It's been a really good learning experience for me, as I've been able to oversee everything so it's all exactly how I want it to be. I've co-written all the tracks and now I've just got to decide which ones should go on the album. But I'm getting a bit impatient now. I can't wait until it's out. I'm very excited. I hope everyone likes it."

When asked about wedding rumors between her and boyfriend Jade Jones:

"That was blown out of all proportion. Look, I'm not wearing any rings. I'm too busy at the moment."

Two MelC Interviews
Here are a couple Mel C interviews:

The first one is a bit of an older one that I got just before I had to stop updating. It's from a Brazilian magazine(don't know which) published on December 22nd. It's a pretty cool interview in which Mel talks about her emotions, the media, fashion, music, boys, movies, etc.

The second one is Mel's first interview of 2001 which was on the MegaStar site, but has alrady been taken down. (Thank God for local copies!) In this interview Mel is very bubbly and optimistic about the future. She talks about tabloids, apperance, Spice Girls, music, family, and Geri.

Thanks Marilia for the Brazilian interview & translation.

Make up Mel!
I know Spicenews.com doesn't post news regarding X-SpiceGirl Geri, but this also concerns Mel B, so here it goes...

It's seems that Geri and Mel B have ended their bickering towards each other. Geri hung out with Mel for about ten minutes after arriving with Robbie Williams, to see Jonathan Wilkes, Robbie's 'flatmate'(roommate to us here in the US), make his TV singing debut. So who knows what this could bring between Geri and the girls... I guess, Time will tell...

BBMak Bashes MelC
British boyband BBMak is supposedly scheduled to be the supporting act for Mel C's tour dates in February. At the same time they have said some not-so-flattering things about our her. BBMak member Christian said:

"She is not my type at all. She has put on loads of weight as well. We've heard she is a real rock chick and swears on stage now. Why? And we've heard she gets drunk. She will always be Sporty Spice to us. But I don't think she likes being Sporty any more. I can imagine her fans are all butch women. We attract mostly a mixed crowd."
