No Geri At Wedding

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell will not be attending Victoria's £500,000 wedding. Geri claims that it is because she is too busy playing at Party In The Park this weekend in London. It is unclear whether she was invited or not. More then 300 guests will attend the wedding which takes place this Sunday!

Mid-Week UK figures show that Melanie B's "Word Up" single is at about #12. The official entry position will be announced this Sunday.

Just Give Us Cash

Victoria has stated that the only wedding gift she really wants from anyone is money! She has asked that her wedding presents be shopping vouchers or cash - convertible units of exchange, in whichever form is most convenient to the giver. Victoria is not alone in this request. A survey shows that one in five couples between 25 and 35 are going for this new cashback style of weddings. These weddings are in essense known as being "smarter weddings" because they eliminate the need of the newly weds to return unwanted items to stores.

Alone Can Be Scary

Mel G admits that there are some difficult times when doing a solo album. In a recent radio interview with London radio station Choice 96.9FM Scary Spice talks about how she was Scaredy Spice when it came to approaching Mary J. Blige about contributing to her solo album. Mel said:

"I had her home telephone number and I daren't call it for about a week, I was like should I, should I? I mean, she had given me her number, so it was obvious she was cool with it, I suppose I just got a bit scared. She is one of the people who I just think is fantastic. She's got so much passion and so much conviction about herself, I think she's brilliant, I really do. She's just got a voice to die for."

Mel also talked about problems of recording outside of Spice Girls:

"If I couldn't reach the high notes, Melanie would step in and if I couldn't reach the low notes Geri would step in, so it's kind of a bit easy vocally, whereas now when you're by yourself you've got no back-up. It's all one big learning experience at the end of the day and I love it, I am a big learner and I love a challenge. It's nice to be able to get finally into my own projects which I have been wanting to do for quite a while."

Elton John To Sing At Wedding

Elton John will sing at the wedding of Victoria Adams and David Beckham. He will surprise the couple with a song he has specially composed just for them. It has also been revealed that the couple plan to have their honeymoon on the paradise island of Bora Bora in the Indian Ocean.

Melanie G and husband Jimmy Gulzar attended the final All Saints Wembly concert and also attended their end of tour party at London's Mayfair Club Friday night. The couple reportedly had a big argument during the concert as a group of astonished children watched. They were finally calmed down by Emma Bunton and ended up having a good time together at the after party.

Emma's New Boyfriend

Emma's new boyfriend is Warren Noronha, a trendy clothes designer that works for top British designer Antonio Berradi. She was apparently introduced to Warren by Victoria, who is a long time fan of his work. The couple have met up for numerous dates at London's Met Bar, Emma's primary hang out spot. They have reportedly been arriving seperately and then meeting up inside the bar to avoid gossip. Warren is 24 years old.

New Bond Info

The British trade publication Music Week is reporting that Mel C's vocals for the song were rejected. Also rejected were the vocals of Bjork, Jamiroquai, Sharleen Spiteri of Texas, and Robbie Williams. The new rumor is that the theme song will now be done by alternative band Garbage.

Another MelG Interview

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph Mel G said that she got Eric Clapton to work with her on her album. She also revealed that spots broke out on her skin after giving birth to Phoenix Chi. During her recent visit in LA, she got them treated using needles by a skin specialist. Melanie also said:

"I'll never forget where I came from, that's why I'll never ever leave the Spice Girls."

Star Wars

Emma Bunton has been invited to the London Premiere of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Other guests that are invited include model Yasmin Le Bon, Boy George, and Kylie Minogue. Ewan McGregor will also be present.

Another MelG Song

Stephen Lawrence, an 18 year old A student was stabbed to death by a gang of white youths while waiting for a bus in Eltham, south-east London, in April 1993. Melanie G told The Sun newspaper that she has written a moving ballad about this incident which will be on her upcoming solo album. Mel says she was inspired to write the song by Stephen's parents and the failiure of the police investigation which was critisized in an official report. The song is untitled thus far. Melanie said:

"The song is written in honor of Stephen. I decided to write it because the whole thing was so terrible. I felt for his parents, because I'm a mother now and I wouldn't wish that on anyone."

Emma was at the West End opening of the musical Soul Train at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Emma signed autographs and then joined friends Dani Behr and Danielle Brown(Mel G's younger sister).

MTV(US) is running a very short interview with Melanie G this weekend on MTV 1515. It will still be on today at 9.00AM and 10.30PM. The interview sounds like this:

Tabloid Apology

The UK tabloid The Mirror has printed a public apology to Virgin Records in it's newspaper for the allegation in August 1998 that Virgin bosses were furious when they found out that Melanie G and Victoria were pregnant and that it would screw up their promotional campain for the new Spice Girls album.(Story). The story was completely untrue and Virgin Records finally settled it's libel action against the tabloid. Virgin Records was especially mad about the false story because it prides itself on being an enlightened and sympathetic company which is artist-orientated.

The Spice Girls home video version of the Channel 4 special Spice Girls In America: A Tour Story, which takes viewers behind the scenes in detail with the Spice Girls during their US leg of their world tour, will be released in the US on August 10.

MelG Marriage Update

Melanie G has spoken with the Sun newspaper and has declined reports that her marriage to Jimmy Gulzar is down the tubes. Mel said that her marriage is forever, thats why you get married and when asked if she would admit to problems between her and her husband she said that all marriages have their ups and downs. Melanie also said she missed Phoenix terribly until Jimmy arrived in Los Angeles with her, where she and Phoenix are now on a two week stay, while Jimmy is apparently visiting his parents in Amsterdam.

Emma Starts Solo Work

Emma was at Sarm West Studios last week to record some vocals for a song by Tin Tin Out. It is rumored that this song might be Emma's first single.

Victoria Wants Another

Victoria has revealed that she wants another child already. She spoke to the Sun newspaper and also at the Versace party she recently attended and said:

"Motherhood is the best thing to happen to me and I would recommend it to anyone, but the problem with having a baby is you want another one. Brooklyn is beautiful, he's smiling and gurgling and doing something new every day. It would be brilliant for him to have someone to play with."

David Beckham said:

Breast Implants

RUMOR WARNING

Melanie G has had breast implants on Wednesday night at a top Hollywood clinic, the night after she was with Melanie C for the Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me Premiere. She is apparently now resting from the surgery at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. She has apparently only gone up one bra size, and wanted the surgery done for quite some time but waited until after Phoenix Chi was born to do it.

Women's Football Awareness

This week, June 12 to June 20, is Women's Football Awareness week in England. (Football of course being soccer) This is working up to the Women's World Cup which starts on June 19th in America. England will see over 250 events and festivals around the country this week promoting women's soccer. Soccer is the fastest growing female sport in the world. The awareness week was launched by the F.A.'s executive director David Davies. Melanie C of Spice Girls and Melanie B of All Saints have thrown in their support for the initiative. Melanie B of All Saints said:

"All Saints are big football fans and we would like to offer our support to Women's Football Awareness Week. We hope that this will be the start of something big for girls. I support Manchester United, Nic and Nat support Arsenal (he he!), whilst Shaznay actually played for Arsenal Ladies FC when at school, even though she supports Tottenham"

"Football is the greatest game in the world and I think it's wicked that girls will now have as much chance to play football as boys. I used to love playing footie with my local team, Watford Ladies, and it's something I'd love to get back into. So come on girls, show those boys what you're made of!"

Breast Friends

Emma is the only Spice Girl that is in England at this point, so she needed some company and got it from Nicole Appleton of All Saints. The two girls spent Tuesday night talking and dancing at London's Met Bar, which is becoming a frequent hang out spot of Emma's. When they were dancing and had the public's attention at one point, Nicole(who was wearing a shirt that said "Wild Style Lovers Rock") jokingly grabbed Emma's boob! The grinning pair had a great laugh, jumped into a limo together and sped off.

Victoria In New York

With under a month until their wedding Victoria and David Beckham both arrived in New York yesterday for a final fitting of Victoria's wedding dress which it has now been determined is designed by Vera Wang. David flew back to London quickly to be with Brooklyn while Victoria stayed in New York to fit the dress and make sure all the measurements are correct. Victoria said she chose Wang instead of one of the more popular designers because:

"There are certain little things I'd like to put on the dress and she's really open to things like that. I couldn't work with anyone who's got a big ego and won't listen to anyone else's opinion."

Emma will make her solo debut at a concert in London's Hyde Park on July 24th. It will be at a charity show for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Organization. The event is being organized by Ronan Keating of Boyzone. Ronan lost his mother of cancer last year and is putting on the show in memory of her. Other stars which will be performing include Dina Carroll, Honeyz, Martine McCutcheon, and Republica. Rumored information on this event include that Emma will duet with Keating before doing at least one song by herself and also that organizers are trying to get George Michael and Geri Halliwell to perform as well...which would make things quite interesting. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday.

New Sporty Look

Melanie G and Melanie C arrived together at 7.28PM yesterday arm in arm at the Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me Premiere. The most significant aspect of this appearance was Melanie C, as she has changed her look! Melanie C has changed her hair color to blonde, and was wearing a skimpy baby pink cardigan, black mini-skirt, and cowboy boots. Both girls wore matching dog collars! Madonna Collaboration Confirmed

Melanie C has confirmed that she will be working with Madonna on tracks for her debut solo album which will be entitled "Northern Star". Mel recently flew to New York to join Madonna at a Central Park restaurant. Melanie has said to British Cosmopolitan magazine:

"When Madonna invited me to spend some time with her, I was thrilled. She's been an idol of mine since I was a child. I'm recording a solo album, which shall come out in the Christmas time and I plan to work with her on some of my songs. She's been my idol growing up, she's what made me want to start my music career in the first place."

Melanie was also asked by the magazine: "Are you getting set for when the Spice Girls will be, you know, no longer?"

and she replied:

"No more? If you are trying to tell me the Spice Girls will soon be in written history, you have gotten me wrong. We're here to stay for a while whether you like it, or not."

This Sunday, after the Channel 4 Spice Girls documentary, Channel 4 will have a program called Melanie G - A Flava Special, which will be a special edition of the black music series which will concentrate on talking about and interviewing Melanie G in Minneapolis.

Break In!

A van full of thugs slipped past the security gates of David Beckham and Victoria Adams' home in Cheshire. The van parked by Victoria's blue Mercedes. Victoria shouted down from a window at the intruders and informed them that they were on private property. The intruders only replied with swearing and making threats. When Victoria dialed 999 the intruders left. A week earlier, one of the couple's cars had been vandalised outside their home. A police spokesman said:

"They may have been fans of a rival football team who had sussed out where the couple lived. They hurled abuse, but drove off before the police arrived."

Victoria came in 60th place in FHM Magazine's 100 sexiest women 1999.

In a small interview with TV Times, Emma made comments on rumors of her seeking a sexier imagine and acting:

"Everybody tries to sex up Baby Spice and it doesn't work. Victoria is very sexy but not me. Well, I like to be sexy but I don't like it in your face. I prefer it to be a bit prettier, a bit cute."

"The other Spice Girls treat me like their little sister because I'm the youngest."
