We're in Vidoetech Online's Lounge with Victoria Beckham and Dane Bowers. How are you doing guys?
I'm wicked. Thank you.
Good Thank you.
I'm curious to know how you guys got together because there have been a lot of different people hooking up, like Emma from the Spice Girls getting together with Tin Tin Out. How does it work? Did you give the True Steppers a call or vice versa?
It wasn't really planned. We were both in the studio doing separate things. Victoria was doing the Spice Girls album and I was writing with the Truesteppers doing a new thing. I just asked her to come and have a listen to the single, asked her what she thought and if she fancied coming onboard. So we got in the studio and wrote the song together.
And did you get a chance to maybe lay two or three tracks down or is this just a one off and we won't be seeing you in the studio again?
No. We've said that we want to write together again. Dane's going to write something with me on my album, so we will be working together again.
Yes, Definitely.
I might do a bit of choreography for one of his videos.
You might do a bit of re-mixing as well.
Yes.
I know that quite a few people were surprised that you went for Two-Step for your first single. Is the whole album going to be that way or is this just a venture into garage?
No, I really like Garage music. It's the sort of thing that I'd going out to listen to but this is the first opportunity I've had to get involved with a track like this. My album's probably going to be a bit more Poppy, but I'd still like to give it that Dancy flavour.
Tell us about Party in the Park. Everyone's been going on about how amazing it was. How was it performing the track live?
It was great but nerve-racking. There were 100,000 people there. To go up and do that is obviously a big thing. We were very excited about it. It was basically the first time we performed it live to a crowd, and the first crowd was 100,000 people. But as you said, everyone really enjoyed it and it went down really well. The dancers were great and it looked good visually which was what we wanted.
Victoria, everyone knows that for a singer to get ready for a gig you've got to warm your voice up. I'm curious Dane, what do the Truesteppers do when they're preparing to perform?
I don't know what they do. I mean obviously they're on the decks and on the keyboards so they don't have to warm up or anything.
Victoria, it's been well documented that your first debut single has been a long time coming. Are you glad to be back doing the interview circuit and being up on stage again?
Yes, I'm really, really enjoying it. It has been quite a long time. Now, when I do Top of The Pops and CD:UK, I don't know who anyone is. I feel a bit old. It is good to be back though and we've both done a lot of work before doing this so we know what we want. We know what we want to look like and we've had a lot of input from day one so we've had control over what the choreography looks like, what the costumes are like and how we want to be portrayed.
The spice Girls haven't been in the same place with each other for quite a while, or very sporadically at least. Is there anything coming up in the future where we can see you as a group again?
Yes. We've actually just finished our third album, which is brilliant. Last week we did two videos because it's a double A-side so we were together then. We're just going to see how people like the album and then decide what's going to be next. But there's definitely going to more to come from all of us.
I'm curious to know. You're young and you've got fame and you're going into the top of the charts and you're performing in front of 100, 000 people in Hyde Park. Things are going amazingly well. Do you have an idea, or dream of where you might be in ten years time, both of you. How do you imagine yourself. Do you imagine yourself still wanting to be up in front of 100, 000 people, still wanting to be on top of the pops?
When I think of the future now I just want to be happy at home with a nice family and still being able to do what I want to do comfortably without it being a burden. At the moment it's been fun. I'm really enjoying it and I just hope that carries on. With the solo album I'm writing my own stuff and it's nice to get that done. At the moment it's not like hard work and I hope that it will stay like that for a while. If I'm not enjoying it, I probably won't do it.
How about you Victoria?
Hopefully I'll still be doing it. I hope that I will have established myself as a solo artist. After being on tour with the Spice Girls, I didn't know quite what I wanted to do when I came back. I spent a long time at home with my family, Brooklyn and David, who have always been the most important thing to me, but I still really missed it so I'll definitely still be doing it.
How are you finding being away from Brooklyn because presumably you're out of the house a lot more than you have been in the past?
I take him with me a lot of the time. I create a little crèche in the Corner. He loves the song. He walks around the house singing "Mind, Mind", and when the song finishes he claps his hands and says "again, again".
Brooklyn has been spotted on the Old Trafford pitch with David. Is there any chance of him making a debut on record in the near future?
I don't know, I'd like to do that but I don't know if it's a bit American. I would like to though.
OK. Thanks very much for taking the time to chat to us. Good Luck with the single. I'm sure it's going to Number 1.
It's out on the 14 August. So, please go and buy it.
