Aida Launch

Elton John launched his soundtrack album for
the movie Aida yesterday and premiered songs off
the album. Victoria Adams and David Beckham were
there to support Elton. The song "My Strongest Suit"
by Spice Girls apparently has a motown sound to it.

Beautiful Strange

I was watching television and when I went by
VH1 a special had just started entitled "Beautiful
Strange: The Artist Answers The Scary Questions".
It was an interview of The Artist by Mel B. I
don't know when this interview was conducted but
I haven't heard any previous mention of it and this
is the first time I've seen it. The interview
was set up by The Artist. He wanted Mel B to
interview him and she was quite excited about it.
The actual interview was pretty boring however.
It just basically consisted of The Artist rambling
on about similar things the whole time, spirituality
and whatnot. There were some questions he asked
Mel B as well such as "Do you think you are Scary?",
"What are your influences", "What do you think of
when i say the word Spice." I don't know when
this intervew will be re-ran.

Legal Action

An unknown song writer has issued a High Court writ
claiming he wrote some of the lyrics to "Goodbye".
A spokeswoman for the Spice Girls confirmed that the
girls got the writ and laughed off accusations that
anyone but them wrote the song saying "Goodbye is
definitely the Spice Girls' work. There is absolutely
no way that the girls didn't write the words. This
sort of thing has happened to loads of bands in the
past."

Raspberry Nominees

The Raspberry awards are presented on the eve of the
Academy Awards and are quite the opposite. Instead of
giving out awards for best performances, the Raspberry
Awards give out awards for the worst performances.
The Spice Girls and SpiceWorld have been nominated for
Worst Actresses, Worst New Stars, Worst Screenplay, and
Worst Picture. Well, i guess i have to post all news,
good or bad :(

Top 100

I forgot to post it earlier, but the Spice Girls' debut
album "Spice" has now been in the Billboard Top 100 for
100 weeks! The album slipped out of the top 100 twice and
now has been on the top 200 for 102 weeks. It is currently
at #90 and is still in the highest position for number of
weeks it's been on the charts(no other album doing better
then #90 has been on the charts as long). SpiceWorld is
slipping however as it is at #99. Congratulations to the
Spice Girls on their achievement of 100 weeks in the top
100, the only album currently in the top 100 for so long!

Lost Children

The Spice Girls yesterday addressed 2 missing girls
in an attempt to get them to come home. The Spice girls
said "If you are safe, please go home. We are all
worried about you. Please go home." Emma even interrupted
her birthday for this occasion. Emma said "I am very
concerned about them and hope they are back home soon. I
plead with them to call home as soon as they can." The
2 girls are aged 10, have been missing for 3 days, and
are huge Spice Fans. The girls names are Charlene and
Lisa. It is believed that they have run away to London
from their Sussex homes to visit the crematorium where
the ashes of Charlene's mother were scattered. Parents
of both girls are extremely distraught especially since
now they fear the girls may have been abducted. There
are hundreds of people looking for the girls at the
moment. Lisa was last known to be wearing an orange
jacket that says "Spice Fever" on the back.

Spices Appeal to EU

The Spice Girls among 400 artists including Robby
Williams, Boyzone, Iron Maiden, Tom Jones, and The
Corrs that have appealed to the European Union for
copyright protection on the Internet. These artists
have complained about the huge loss of income every
year because of the free use of musical and film
works on the Internet. The Musicians want clear,
strict laws on the use of original works and copies
transferred on the internet. A proposed EU Directive
adapting current copyright law to take account of the
information age has been approved by the Committee and
will be debated next month.

More MelC

Melanie C was apparently making out with Paul Byatt of
Brookside at a pub called Blue Bar And Grill in Liverpool.
They were making out as a Liverpool vs. Southampton match
was on. Onlookers say the partied until 1AM, after which
they dissapeared together. While that may be a bit
rumoristic, it has been now specified that Sporty will be
specifically in LA next week to start work on her solo
album.

MelC Interview

Melanie C was recently interviewed by Top Of The Pops. This
interview is pretty informative. Mel talks about going on the
intenet, claims the stories of Geri Halliwell working with
Stannard/Rowe on her own album are false information, and
much more info. Here is a link to the article on the TOTP site
which includes Real Audio of the whole interview, and
here is a local copy of the transcript.

Word Up

Ashley Newton, president of Virgin Records, has confirmed that
Mel B and Timbaland worked together on a cover of Cameo's 1986 song
"Word Up" recently in London. Timbaland may add his own rap part
to the song when he goes back to the US to mix the track. Ashley
Newton also adds that Mel B's album will have an urban/edgy slant.
Newton would not give any details but said that everyone that has
been asked to help out on the record has accepted. Currently
rumored to be featured on the album are The Artist formerly known
as Prince and Mary J. Blige, aside from obviously Missy Elliot and
Timbaland. "Word Up" will hit the airwaves in March as the album's
first single.

Great Divide

MTV is reporting the name of the 3rd Spice Girls album to
be "Great Divide". It seems that this would be the actual
name as MTV is a pretty strong source. They don't have it
as a news report or anything, it just suddenly appeared that
"Goodbye" is listed as on the album "Great Divide". It may
be an error, it may not be, we will see soon!

Brit Awards 99

Yes, it's that time of year again, time for the 1999 Brit
Awards. There is good news and bad news this year. The bad
news is that the Spice Girls are not nominated for anything.
(how could this be!?) The good news is that Mel B's
"I Want You Back" featuring Missy Elliot is nominated for best
Best British Video. The full list of nominees in this catagory
are as follows:
For more information about the 1999 Brit Awards as well as
nominees in other catagories, check the official Brit Awards site.

Spice, the girls debut album has been in the Billboard
top 200 for 100 weeks! It is currently at #90(with
SpiceWorld at #89) and is the highest positioned
album on the charts for the length of time it has been
there!(all albums below #90 are under 100 weeks) A huge
congratulations to the Spice Girls for this achievement.
If they manage 2 more weeks in the top 100, that will be

Nasty Shaz

Shaznay Lewis of All Saints had this to say about
Mel B in a recent interview, further adding fuel to the
Spice vs. Saints battle which is driven almost completely
by All Saints:
"I won't be making my peace with her in 99, there's no need
to, it's more a case of I'll discard that person, and just
act like I don't know her, and never met her in my life."

Shaznay is referring to how the two did not get along while
hosting an award show last year. When asked about the
incident a month ago Mel B said that she did not know what
Shaznay's problem was, that she was trying to be nice to
her but Shaznay had a problem with her from the beginning.

Geri Revelations

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has revealed in an
interview that her decision to quit the Spice Girls had
nothing to do with any of the girls and was just
something she had to do. She apparently had to decide
between performing Viva Forever at the National Lottery
and doing an interview about Breast Cancer, which she
felt was extremely important, and at that point she
decided the interview was more important to her and on
the fly decided to quit the group becuase of the hectic
work schedule. She also revealed that she was always
planning to leave the group and told them in January of
1998 that she would leave in September 1998 after the
tour. This interview was her first British TV interview
since she left the group and was conducted by chat show
host Michael Parkinson. Slowly it comes out.

MelB Album Update

Mel B's solo album will be produced by Timbaland.
Timbaland works closely with Missy Elliot and has
worked with many other artists. He currently has
his own album out as well. There are also rumors that
he might have some input on the new Spice Girls album.

Album 3 News

The Spice Girls have chosen producer Rodney Jerkins to
work with them on the third album. Rodney is quoted as
saying: "I went out to dinner with a couple of the Spice
Girls about a month and a half ago and they told me that
they want me to, you know, do some work on their album,
so I'm planning on going to London at the end of January,
early February to work on the album, so it should be cool.
I'm ready for it, it will still have a pop appeal, but the
beats will be a little harder." The producer plans to
bring an urban dancable feel to the girls' music. The album
name is still undecided and is set for release this year.
Reports are now coming in that it will be released before
any major solo projects from the individual girls contrary
to other reports. Virgin MD Paul Conroy which is their boss
says that they are working hard this year and are currently
recording new material.

MelC's Lost Sister

Melanie C was reunited with her 17 year old sister she
never knew existed 18 months ago. It has been recently
reported that they have become very close sisters indeed
and the two are inseperable. Mel's sister's name is
Emma Williams. Emma has met the other Spice Girls and
has followed them around rather frequently on promotions
and parts of their tour. Emma never saw her father Alan
Chisholm but always knew that somewhere she had a
half-sister named Melanie from her fathers previous marriage.
One day she saw a picture of Alan standing next to Sporty
Spice and she realized everything. Emma shortly afterwards
met Alan which in turn set up a meeting between her and
Melanie. Emma is quoted as saying "It all fitted in.
He just brought her round one day. I remember that it did
not really feel like meeting a Spice Girl. It felt like I
was meeting my sister. We just hugged. We laughed at the
same things. There were things that we both did - and we
even both suffer from hay fever! "Mel told me that she was
shooting a video when she was told about me. She had not
known that I existed at all. She is a real laugh and very
down to earth and kind. When asked about meeting the
Spice Girls she said: "Spice Girls are just mad. They were
getting ready to go to the bash and it was just like getting
ready for a girls' night out. "They were all borrowing one
another's make-up. The girls are very friendly, easy to get
on with and have a great sense of humour. They were all
pleased for Mel." Here is a picture of Mel and Emma together.

SpiceWorld Is 2nd Best

No, not second best to Spice, but rather second place in
Billboard's top 200 albums of the year viewer poll. It
came in second place next to Madonna's Ray Of Light.
SpiceWorld had been in the top spot for the last 3 days until
Ray Of Light beat it out in the end. Still a good job for
the girls!

Emma Rumors

-=RUMOR WARNING=-
Emma has spent £10,000 on a 10 day holiday at 5 star Royal
Palm Hotel for her and her boyfriend Jade. After one
sunbathing session, Emma threw her arms around Jade and
pulled him towards her. An onlooker is quoted as saying
"Their kiss lasted for over 10 seconds. "The pair looked
just like a couple of honeymooners, they are obviously in
love and besotted with each other."

Rumors

-=RUMOR WARNING=-
There are a number of new rumors concerning the Spice Girls
and here they are!:

1.) Mel B has commented on the rumors of the new Spice
Girls album not being released until the year 2000 saying
"That's a bunch of bullshit, we are in the studios now
recording our second single, and our album is due out as
soon as Vicky and I get a weeks break for our babies."

2.) Emma has confirmed that the third album will full of
covers and new songs including covers of "Celebrate The Good
Times" by KC and the Sunshine Band, "We Are Family" by Sister
Sledge, "Sisters" by Annie Lennox, and "Holiday" by Madonna.

3.) The Spice Girls are debating the name of the third album
still and have thought of a new name for it, "Four". They
have not finalized the title because they are unsure if Geri
Halliwell might not be offended by the title somehow.

4.) The Spice Girls were spotted in Toronto Studios with
the Backstreet Boys recording a new song.
