NOT SPICE NEWS - You might have noticed the posts have
been slow lately here. This is because I have been busy
packing and tieing up loose ends here in Columbus. I will
be leaving for Los Angeles tomorrow morning(i'm moving there)
so I won't be able to update the Spice News for about a week
until i get settled in :( Expect the news site to improve and
get a make-over as well in the next month or so after I get to

Word Up Release Date

Mel B's second single, "Word Up", will be released on
May 17th in Europe. No US release date yet.

New Albums

Virgin Records Australia has confirmed that we will have

The Big Breakfast

Mel C was recently on "The Big Breakfast" show and said that her
album will be released in October, and a single will be released in
either July or August. She also revealed that Emma will be releasing
a "Sleeping Beauty" single, and that "Chi" is actually pronounced as
"Key".

MelC: Photographer

During a charity advertizing photo shoot, Melanie C turned the
tables on Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli and took some pictures
of him, as well as both of them together. Mel is backing the
Kappa campaign in return for a donation to YCTV, a young people's
television training charity in north-west London. Melanie said:
"I like taking pictures, so hopefully I can get some good shots.
I have got quite a handsome model." She also thanked well-wishers
congradulating Mel B on her child. Mel said: "Phoenix is very
good, very quiet and doesn't cry a lot, not like her mother."

Status Update On The Melanies

Mel B is back to work as stated before, she is also busy on her
next solo single release - "Word Up", a cover song she did with
Timbaland. Mel B is also downplaying rumors that she had a highly
decorated room when she delivered Phoenix Chi. She says "As if!!!"
to the rumors of her having lilies everywhere and she says in a
sarcastic tone that she didn't have a specially made waterfall in
her room. She was also bombarded with a huge amount of mail yesterday
from fans and everyone she knew with congradulations on the baby,
cards, flowers, gifts, etc. Also Mel B was visited by Emma who went
in her sports car, and Victoria and David, who went in their
jeep. Once again pulicist Alan Edwards:
"Mel is up and about, and overwhelmed by all the flowers, gifts
and cards she's had.

Meanwhile it's back to LA for MelC to do more work in the studio
for her solo project.

More Melanie Tidbits

"My first words when I saw my baby were, 'God, you are beautiful',
then, 'Where's the champagne?'" Melanie B told The Sun last night.
Soon after six bottles of champagne arrived, 25 balloons, etc. Mel
sat up in bed and cracked open the first bottle herself to celebrate
with the rest of the Spice Girls who were with her.

A pricing correction about the previous post on Portland Hospital where
Mel gave birth and Victoria plans to. It is £1,315 for the first night
and £575 each night after.

New Single

Melanie B is not taking much time off after delivering her
first child. She will join the other Spice Girls in within
the next few days to prepare for the release of the Spice Girls'
new single. The single name is yet to be announced(Perhaps
"My Strongest Suit"?). The video for the new single was shot
only a week before Mel gave birth. Once again Mel's publicist
Alan Edwards had the following to say:
"I spoke to Melanie last night and she sounded full of beans.
I expect Melanie will be taking a look at the video sometime
this week and then promotion for the single will start within
the next couple of weeks."
The new single is to be released in 5 weeks.

Victoria's Wedding Is At...

Humewood House in Ireland. That is where Victoria and
David Beckham will tie the knot. Victoria fell in love
with the the place when she was there for a 1998 New Years
party. The castle is owned by millionaire Renata Coleman.
It is set amid 450 acres of stunning scenery. It has a
magnificent dining room and plush bedrooms with four-poster
beds. It has been rented out for many prestigious parties
in the past. The exact wedding date has not been released
yet, but it is thought to be sometime this summer. The
caterer will be Peregrine Armstrong-Jones.

Victoria: Set To Deliver

Victoria has decided to give birth to her child on
Sunday. It is revealed that she and David have chosen
the name of their baby to be "Brooklyn". They chose
this name because the child was concieved in New York.
They didn't want to name it Manhattan however, so they
found the next closest thing. The couple have had a
20 minute video made in a US hospital of a scan of their
child moving about in Victoria's stomach. The rest of
the Spice Girls will be with Victoria as soon as they
find out she goes into labor, and David Beckham has a
helicopter standing by to escort him to the hospital as
well. The baby will be a boy and will weigh 6lbs.
It will be delivered on Sunday at the Portland Hospital
in London. Meanwhile, plans for the wedding of the two
lovers continue to go ahead. Elton John has been announced
as the guest of honor and will sing a song at the wedding.
It is rumored that Donatella Versace is designing the
wedding dress.

More on Mel and Phoenix

Melanie B has left the hospital on Saturday less then
24 hours after giving birth to her daughter Phoenix Chi.
Her contractions started late Thursday night and she went
into labor at 0400 GMT Friday morning and was rushed to
Portland hospital. The baby girl was delivered at 6:42PM
and weighs 5.5lbs. Both Emma and Mel C joined Mel B at
the hospital soon after she went into labor. Sporty left
the hospital at 7:55PM and said to the press: "She is
beautiful, I am very proud, GIRL POWER!" Emma left the
hospital at 9PM with her mother and said that the baby was
gorgeous. Emma was wearing white jeans and a white quilted
jacket. She and her mother left in a chauffeur driven
silver Mercedes. Husband Jimmy Gulzar says Phoenix is a
mix of looks between Mel and himself. He also said "I am
very happy to announce that I have a beautiful daughter,
she is the child of the future. The birth went just smooth
and she sends you all her love." He also said that Mel
was "wicked" when asked how she was doing. The other 3
Spice Girls later released a joint statement saying: "We
are really proud of Melanie, it was true Girl Power. We
are all Spice Aunties now." Press and fans were gathered
outside the hospital during the birth. Mel and Jimmy left
the hospital through a a rear exit. They also left in a
silver Mercedes, with tinted windows as balloons were
released outside and nurses from the hospital steps and
waved goodbye to the car. A hospital spokeswoman said:
"They were all well. They were in good form and enjoyed
a good night." Later Saturday, Melanie B's publicist
Alan Edwards said "Mother and baby are well and I think
she's gone home so soon because she's a fit girl who would
have got bored just sitting around, she'd want to be off
and running. Her mum is helping and she's just resting
really, I think that's the order of the day. It's going
to be a quiet evening, that's what she told me but you never
know with Mel, she might be out clubbing later." He also
added that Mel on Saturday night is feeding her baby and
having a quiet family meal before going to bed. Edwards
also was asked about the name of the child. He explained
that Phoenix meant fire and Chi meant aura. He said he
didn't know why the couple chose the name but but he believed
that it was a unisex name that could be applied to either
a boy or girl. This is despite rumors that the child is
named because Phoenix, Arizona is where it first became
public that Mel was pregnant. All sunday Melanie has been
at her home in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire with the baby.

Melanie Gives Birth!!!

Melanie Brown Gulzar has given birth today!!! Her
child's name is Phoenix Chi. She was rushed to Portland
hospital this morning to deliver the child. A spokeswoman
for the Spice Girls said that Emma and MelC are at the
hospital, along with husband Jimmy, and family.

What ground breaking news after a week with almost no
news at all! Congradulations to Melanie on this child,
we wish you the best of luck! Now thats Girl Power!!! ;)

The Truth Is Out There

This summer there will be an interesting documentary
about Geri Halliwell's departure from the Spice Girls. It
will be done by Channel 4 and will be a fly-on-the-wall
style documentary revealing all. It will show the fights
and tensions that the group had when Geri was in it and
what finally caused her to leave the group(the real reason).
Close sources to the project say that it will definitly
open up old wounds with her former pals as she blatently
gives her opinon on them. Perhaps the most disgrunting
piece of information about this documentary is the fact
that Geri apparently started work on it while still in
the Spice Girls, planning for the future, keeping her
own video diary. Geri drafted in a girl named Molly,
a producer, to give her "advice". A source says that
as soon as Geri left the group Molly's real role became
clear. The documentary is to reveal a lot. It will
explain things like Geri mysteriously breaking down on
stage a few weeks before her split. This documentary
will also show that Geri and the rest of the Spice Girls
were still friendly after the split, which is apparently
far from the truth. Let it be noted that Geri Halliwell
took advice from Chris Evans, and PR guru Matthew Frued
for help in coming up with a new, more mature image weeks
before she left the Spice Girls.

New News

This isn't Spice News, but I'm sure some of you have
been wondering why there haven't been any posts since
Thursday when there usually are some over the weekend.
It's not that there isn't news, it's that I haven't had
time to update it yet. Don't worry! It's not like I'm
one of those Webmasters that will close down a site
"because I don't have enough time to update it." Thats
bull! This news site will be up as long as the Spice
Girls exist and will only get better! The reason it hasn't
been updated is because I was out of state over the weekend
visiting relatives. Normally I would still be able to update
the news but I was so busy dealing with future plans that I
really didn't have a chance to. Sorry to everyone that checked
and didn't get any new news, expect a news update today
at around 2-4pm as soon as I get a chance to sleep
as I had only had 4hrs of sleep in the last thiry some
hours. Don't worry, this site will maintain it's high
rate of news updates and news will be reported immediatly

OK! MelB+Jimmy Interview

Melanie Brown and husband Jimmy Gulzar recently gave an
interview to OK! magazine. Some of the key points in this
interview are Mel's denial of knowing the sex of her child,
already having a unisex name for the child starting with a
P, and responding to a question as to whether the Spice
Girls will be around in a year saying that she is unsure,
but: "None of us is willing to retire just yet. That would
be a silly thing to do." A very informative interview, it's

Victoria Vogue Interview

In an intervew with Vogue magazine Victoria said she will
be a working mother, and take her child into the studio with
her when she starts work on the third Spice Girls album. In
a typically cute Victoria comment she expressed her concern
about the babies sleeping habits and said: "I have heard there
are some babies who never sleep ... aren't there?"

Posh Calls

Victoria called into the Richard and Judy show when she
saw a David Beckham impersonater on the show as a joke.
She saw the show on TV before filming at the BBC for a
documentary about the Spice Girls' world tour. Victoria
called in and said "Have you got my David there? Because
you know I could go into labour at any time now and he tells
me that he's with England and he's sat there in the wrong
shirt." The impersonator turned red in the face from
embarrasment and Victoria just said "You've got a beamer on
now haven't you, you've gone all embarrassed. You look like
you've put a bit of weight on your face." When Victoria was
asked to rate the impersonator she said that he wasn't bad
and hoped he would find his own Posh Spice. She was also
asked if she wanted to see a Full Monty of her lover's
look-a-like and she replied "Oh dear, please don't." The
look-a-like was a student named Patrick Harte from Worcester.

It's A Girl!

There is no official confirmation from the Spice Girls,
but UK's People Magazine has reported that Mel B has also
had a scan done and it has been determined that her child
will be a girl! Melanie was apparently on the phone with
Victoria right away to tell her the news. Mel is expected
to give birth around March 10th.

Disney Film Cancelled

The animated Spice Girls movie by Disney has been
cancelled as some expected. Disney said it was due
to their unsurity of whether the group would still be
together in a years time when the movie was ready for
release. The Spice Girls are saddened by the cancellation.

Victoria Tracker

Victoria and David Beckham had dinner at London's
Titanic restaurant on Saturday, along with Victoria's
sister Louise and a friend. They were all celebrating
Manchester United's win over Nottingham Forest. Victoria
had a high request for privacy and keeping autograph
hunters away, and even clearing out the ladies room
when she needed it. Customers were politely asked to
"wait for a couple of minutes." The customers were
apparently a bit rowdy by the end of the evening.

Album 3 Update

Reports in the general media lately have been that
the third Spice Girls album will not be released on
time, or for that matter, not even in 1999. The media has
been saying that the Spice Girls will not be able to
make their June 1st deadline for finishing recording
of the album due to the pregnancies. It has been
further printed that the release date has been pushed
back to February 2000. Sources for the reports have
been "close friends" of the girls. The LA Frontier(newspaper)
caught up with Mel C in LA as she is there recording
and asked her about the reports. Melanie is quoted
as saying:
"Our album IS coming out June 1st. Don't listen to
the media! And what's with this "a close friend"
business? We've already finished most of the record.
As soon as Melanie and Victoria have their babies and
loose a few kilos we'll put the finishing touches on
it. And as for my album, let's just say sometime this
year!"

Juno Nomination

The Spice Girls are nominated for the Best Selling
Album catagory in the 1999 Juno Awards. Bryan Adams
and Mel C are also nominated for Best Song Writer for
"When You're Gone" The awards will take place on

It's A Boy
